Henrik grew up in Gothenburg on the Swedish west coast. He received his MSc in Pharmaceutical Bioscience at the University of Gothenburg in 2001. In 2006, he successfully defended his thesis "Regulation of the Vascular Smooth Muscle Cell Phenotype" which focused on the transcriptional regulation of smooth muscle cell specific genes, and received his PhD in Medical Biochemistry at the University of Gothenburg. Henrik joined Dr. Wang's lab in April 2008. His primary focus is to investigate the mechanisms of arterio-venous specification in the early mouse embryo.
